Car Driver Training
We train people to drive cars. No matter what your experience level, from beginners to refresher driving lessons, everyone is welcome. We do practice lessons, EDT lessons, and refresher lessons (increasingly popular). We’re here to help you so feel free to contact us with any questions you may have. There are deep discount prices for multi-lessons, and more so if you prepay online, but we are happy to help you on a lesson by lesson basis.
Why Do a Pre-Test
Completing your Pre-Test Course will help you to:
- Practice all the maneuvers in the test which are: Reverse, Turnabout, Hill start and Parking.
- Practice doing junction, with right and left turns, traffic lights, and roundabouts.
- Understanding the rules of the road.
- Be fully prepared for the driving test.

DRIVING LESSONS TYPES
ESSENTIAL DRIVER TRAINING (EDT)
Essential Driver Training, (EDT), a legal requirement that a trainee driver must undertake at least 12 hours of essential driver training with an Approved Driving Instructor (ADI).
You MUST have a learner permit BEFORE you start EDT lessons.

Any non EDT lesson undertaken with North Dublin Driving School will be deemed a “Sponsor” or practice lesson.
SPONSOR DRIVER TRAINING (Practice)
Sponsor Training is an essential part of learning to drive.
In addition to the 12 EDT lessons, the Road Safety Authority recommend that 3 sponsor lessons per EDT take place. This is an important role which reinforces the EDT lessons and guides the student to a successful learning experience.
A Sponsor does not have to be an Approved Driving Instructor, but should be an experienced driver. The main purpose is to:
- offer support and encouragement, show interest in their progress
- Assure them they can rely on your experience in difficult road situations
- Reinforce that safe driving takes lots of persistence, patience and practice
