The Driver Theory Test in Ireland
So the journey of beginning with the theory test. Apply for the theory test online at www.theorytest.ie. There are 5 steps to take in before you can apply online. 1. Select the correct category for your theory test. If it’s a car its category B 2. ID requirements – 3. Prepare 4. Select test centre 5. Schedule The real first step for the theory test is to prepare for it. You can do this with the theory test practice book with all the questions and answers and practice test on CD. This is a great way to prepare for the test so get practicing. There is currently no requirement for your photograph to be taken at the test center. Instead, per your confirmation email/letter, you are required to bring two passport photographs with you. You cannot sit the Driver Theory Test without these photographs. Once you have scheduled bring some valid ID your passport and you should arrive 15 minutes early. If you arrive late you may loose your place and test fee. When you pass the Driver Theory Test you are given a certificate. This certificate does not entitle you to drive just yet. Their are several documents that you must provide before applying for the learner permit which does entitle you to undertake driving lessons with an (ADI) Approved Driving Instructor. You must fill in an application form for the Learner Permit downloaded for the RSA local library or Garda Station. Bring it into your local tax office with your Passport and Birth Certificate. Also you need an eye sight report (get application in Library or Garda Station or RSA) and €35 which covers you for two years. Once you have your Learner Permit you are ready to get driving lessons, get in touch with your friendly (ADI) Approved Driving Instructor at North Dublin Driving School and book your 12 EDT Driving Lessons.
