The head of the Road Safety Authority says the speed limit on rural Irish roads is 'way too high'.
Speaking to the Sunday Show earlier today, Liz O'Donnell confirmed there have been 85 lives lost on our roads so far this year - with five of those deaths last weekend alone.
Speed is still a common cause of many accidents and the Transport Minister has ordered a review of speed limits around the country.
Urban slow zones are being introduced, 30km initially, but indications are 20km will follow shortly.
